The Stanly County H.E.L.P.S. Initiative is a collaborative effort of several local faith-based organizations and ministries and Sandhills Cooperation Association to address some of Albemarle and Stanly County’s most pressing challenges and build a thriving, connected community for everyone.
We seek to be a catalyst to create, identify and/or expand opportunities and sustainable programs to build up and strengthen community engagement, thereby, enhancing the dignity and quality of life for generations to come.

The main goal of Stanly County H.E.L.P.S Initiative is to help reduce poverty and improve the quality of life for individuals and families in need.
Stanly County H.E.L.P.S Initiative offers a wide range of programs, including elder care, mental health and substance abuse education, workforce enhancements, affordable summer and afterschool programs, domestic violence and abuse education.
Stanly County H.E.L.P.S Initiative is funded through donations from individuals, corporations, and grants from foundations.
Stanly Co. HELPS desires to address the socio-economic and health needs of older adults to make sure they experience and maintain a high quality of life, encourage independence and physical, mental and social well-being. Our aim is to restore a level of respect and dignity while recognizing their valued contributions to the establishment and preservation of our local communities. By creating, promoting and participating in opportunities for social interaction, companionship and community engagement, we purpose to help bridge generational gaps through the sharing of their wisdom and knowledge gained by virtue of their life experiences.

SC HELPS will work in partnership with local resources, service providers and organizations to promote healthy lifestyle choices and expand access to mental health support and preventative care; substance abuse education and enhance the quality of life for all generations of community members. By bringing together community members through health promotion activities and/or events, we will enhance personal and community ownership of improving health outcomes for all. Our position is to educate and empower community members by increasing awareness and providing resources and programs to prevent domestic violence and abuse and support survivors. Coordination with service providers and local resources will enhance the dismantling of harmful stereotypes and social norms that perpetuate violence and abuse, while paving the way for healthier relationships and communities.

The Community Garden project seeks to address the local food insecurity rate and provide fresh healthy food, choices, and or affordable food, teach valuable agricultural skills, promote physical activity and foster meaningful connections among community members of all ages. This project is more than planting seeds; it is also planting HOPE. Together we will empower our neighbors, promote self-sufficiency, nurture and preserve the community’s cultural identity and create opportunities to share knowledge to help families and restore community pride.
